This is your chance to try out one of our popular sprint events on this day with a trackday in the morning and a mini sprint in the afternoon. The sprint is intended as a taster for those who’ve never tried it before so we encourage those who have been on the fence to come along and give it a go and get some experience of fun entry level motorsport. We make it as open as we can for people to take part, as long as the car passes the safety requirements which 98% of trackday capable cars will do you just need a licence which is as simple as filling in a form online prior to the event. The one lap format means that stress on the vehicle is keep to a minimum and with vehicles being set off at intervals you’ll be away from other vehicles on track meaning your daily road car can even take part. Up to 3 drivers can share the same vehicle but each driver needs an entry. Only the driver may be in the vehicle during the sprint portion of the event, passengers are only permitted during the AM trackday session.

We aim for a minimum of 3 timed runs on the day (the first run is untimed) but will fit in as many as the entry/schedule permits. Vehicles are divided into classes for this event but these are purely for reference and to allow us to group the vehicles properly. Full timing results will be available throughout the event and afterwards but there will be no awards other than bragging rights for the event. Vehicles are split into class and run once per run in the specified order so there will be approximately 30-40 minutes between runs over the afternoon. Vehicles are set off with a gap of approximately 20-30 seconds between vehicles.

Ensure that you have read through all the tabs at the top of this section before entering the event to make sure you and your vehicle comply with the rules.

Competition Licence* – An IOPD Licence is required to take part in our sprint events, see the IOPD tab for details on how to purchase one.

Competition Plates – Each competitor will be supplied with a set of competition numbers for the event at check in which must be displayed on each side of the vehicle throughout, these competition plates will be approximately A5 in size. In the case of a shared vehicle it should be clearly indicated which driver is in the vehicle by marking the unused numbers with tape.

There will be a total of 13 classes on this event but they are purely a guide to help us split vehicles by performance to ensure the event runs efficiently as there are no awards given.

Engine Modifier

Forced Induction (Turbo/Supercharger) = +40% cc

Rotary Engine = +50% cc

A - Modified Vehicles (Competition Tyres)

All vehicles in this class must be fitted with a full roll cage, competition seats and full harness with all running gear built to withstand the additional stresses of running competition tyres.

A1 - 4WD Vehicles over 2000cc

A2 - 2WD Vehicles over 2000cc

A3 - Vehicles between 1600 & 2000cc

A4 - Vehicles under 1600cc

B - Modified Vehicles (’E’ Marked Tyres)

If a modified vehicle does not have a roll cage that surrounds the driver, competition seat and full

harness, then the standard vehicle interior must remain around the driver. i.e.: Dashboard,

steering column covers, centre console, door panel and headlining. Carpet may be removed

but there must be no sharp edges that could come in to contact with the driver in an accident.

B1 - 4WD Vehicles over 2000cc

B2 - 2WD Vehicles over 2000cc

B3 - Vehicles between 1600 & 2000cc

B4 - Vehicles under 1600cc

C - Standard Vehicles

Aftermarket modifications are permitted providing the vehicle retains all standard looks and interior.

C1 - 4WD Vehicles over 2000cc

C2 - 2WD Vehicles over 2000cc

C3 - Vehicles between 1600 & 2000cc

C4 - Vehicles under 1600cc

D - Specialised Vehicles

Specialised vehicles includes all Lotus 7 variants, single seater and aero entries

Vehicle Safety

Vehicles must be safe, mechanically sound, leak free and fit for purpose. Although vehicles are not required to have road tax or an MOT they must be prepared to a level where they would be capable of passing one. Drivers complete a Vehicle Safety Declaration as part of the online registration process before the event. It is the drivers responsibility to ensure that the car fully complies with the safety regulations for the event when completing the VSD. We will carry out visual inspections through the event to check vehicles comply. Any vehicle that does not comply is subject to removal and no refund will be given.

Roll Over Protection

Vehicles must have sufficient practical roll over protection where specified. Factory fitted roll over protection is rarely suitable for competition use with the exception of a hardtop which would fulfil the minimum requirements. We strongly recommend fitting a roll cage for all competition use.

a). All vehicles in the ‘A’ category must be fitted with a full roll cage

b). All vehicles in the ‘D’ category must be fitted with a roll cage that encompasses the driver, a roll bar where the drivers helmet us underneath the line between the bar and the front crash structure as is also applicable for any single seater vehicles.

c). Open top vehicles in all classes must have a roll bar or a roll cage or be fitted with a hard top and the drivers helmet must be below the level of the roll over protection. Standard roll hoops in a convertible vehicle do not count.

All roll over protection must be undamaged and fitted to the manufacturers specifications. If the vehicle has windows then they must be up otherwise the fitting of a net screen is required.

Vehicle Interior

There must be no sharp objects near the occupants of the vehicle, if door cards have been removed then they must be replaced with a smooth surface or edges covered. The vehicles must be free of any loose objects. Windows must be closed on track.

Fire Extinguishers

Vehicles running in the ‘A’ category are required to carry an extinguisher unless prior exception has been made by the organiser. It is recommended that all vehicles carry at least a 1.75L fire extinguisher that is accessible by the driver and properly and firmly secured whilst in motion.

Fuel & Fuel Systems

Fuel – must be petrol / diesel - commercially available race fuel and octane boosters allowed. No Methanol as a sole main fuel but can be mixed with petrol or used as part of a water injection system. Fuel lines inside the car must be metal or braided steel and no joins will be permitted within the passenger compartment. Fuel systems mounted in the boot area must be separated from the passenger compartment by a firewall. Where a fuel system is filled from inside the vehicle a suitable drainage system must be in place to drain spilt fuel to the outside of the vehicle.

Electrical vehicles are not permitted to take part at this time.

The use of Nitrous systems is not permitted.

Recovery

Vehicles must be fitted with a means of recovery i.e. towing eye, towing points. The location of any concealed towing points should be clearly highlighted on the exterior of the vehicle to aid recovery. you will not be permitted on track without a means of recovery.

Electrical & Battery

High spec vehicles should ideally be fitted with an FIA approved cut off switch, those without should have the earth lead/negative battery terminal clearly indicated with brightly coloured tape (ideally yellow). Electrical vehicles are not permitted to take part at this time.

Seats & Harnesses

Any harnesses or seatbelts must be fitted according to the manufacturer’s instructions and must be in a good, safe condition. Harnesses must be worn correctly by the driver. Vehicles in the

‘C’ category are required to have both front and rear seats still in place. The use of rigid bucket seats is not recommended in any vehicle without a full roll cage.

Noise

Vehicles must conform to a 95dba driveby limit. Any vehicle exceeding this limit will be subject to exclusion from the event.

Tyres

‘A’ Modified Vehicles & ‘D’ Specialised Vehicles

Slick & competition tyres are permitted and the vehicle must comply with the following:

a). Fitted with a full roll cage.

b). Suspension and brake components have been sufficiently upgraded to handle the stress such tyres would put on the vehicle.

‘B’ Modified Vehicles & ‘C’ Standard Vehicles

Only E marked radial tyres will be allowed.

Tyres must be road legal and have a minimum of 1.6mm tread depth throughout the event.

Tyres marked “competition use only” or “Not for highway use” are not permitted and their use within these classes will result in immediate exclusion from the event.

Driver Attire

All participants are required to have their arms and legs covered when in the vehicle; we recommend participants avoid wearing non flame retardant synthetic fabrics where possible as most melt rather than burn in the event of a fire. Flameproof overalls are strongly recommended for all participants.

a). Participants in Class A & D vehicles must wear flame proof overalls.

b). Participants of Class B vehicles where the vehicle interior has been removed must wear flame roof overalls unless the vehicle is road registered.

Flame Proof overalls should be in good condition and suitable for purpose.

Drivers in open top vehicles must wear gloves, recommended for all other vehicles.

Helmets

Helmets must be suitable for the activity and in a good, safe condition. Helmets with protruding chins are not permitted. Drivers of any open top/removable roof vehicles are permitted to wear full face helmets only and must have a visor. It is strongly recommended for all participants to use either a properly fitted HANS device or a neck brace.

Cameras

Cameras must be securely mechanically mounted within the vehicle, suction mounts are not permitted.

Helmet cameras are not permitted.

No handheld equipment is permitted.

Entrants are required to be in possession of a valid 2025 IOPD Competition Licence. Either an Annual Pass or a Day Pass (MSUK licences do not count).

2025 - £25 Annual Pass, £15 Day Pass

An IOPD licence can be purchased directly from the IOPD website but day passes are only available within 2 months of the event date.

IOPD LINK

Purchasing an annual pass will cover you on our sprint events, you will be posted a Licence card which you can then display at events so please order these no later than one week before the event to allow for postage.

Purchasing a day pass will require you to specify the individual event and will then email you a code of the licence with a licence code contained within. We advise that you order this by at least the Friday prior to the event so that you may still contact IOPD directly should there be an issue with the email delivery. If you cannot present the confirmation email with the licence code and specifying the correct event then you will need to purchase another, we cannot accept a licence for an incorrect event or the payment receipt on it's own which is why we advise you to ensure you've got it during the week before rather than at the weekend when IOPD will not be available.

Timing

Runs will be timed to 1/100th of a second. Timing will consist of a start & finish beam that will record signals whenever a vehicle passes through with cars set off at 30 second intervals. Your time will start when you break the start beam and end when you cross the finish line with two display boards showing your number and run time after the finish.

Penalties

Circuit limits are defined as up to the white lines at the edge of the track and the kerbs, beyond that will be counted as having left the track and your time will be voided. Similarly hitting any track furniture i.e. cones will result in a void run also. The painted run off areas can be used but two wheels must remain within the white lines of the circuit at all times.

Running Order

Drivers will participate in the current run in turn before moving onto the next so each run will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete with each driver running once. The running order will be in class order and (in theory) number order. So A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, etc. It is the drivers responsibility to ensure that they are ready and arrive at the holding area at the appropriate times. If a driver has an issue that prevents them from running significantly out of sequence then they must get approval from a Javelin staff member to do so. Anyone attempting to gain an advantage by running out of sequence i.e. drying track/potential shower will forfeit that run.

Impeded Runs & Reruns

If you encounter another vehicle on track then you should continue at competitive speed until you are a few seconds behind them and it is no longer safe to do so. You can finish within a few seconds of each other and times will still be counted but if you are impeded by another vehicle before that point then you will be entitled to a rerun. Similarly if you encounter circuit furniture in your path that was moved by a vehicle in front you will also be entitled to a rerun.

Occasionally we may ask you to take a rerun due to a timing issue but most times can be recovered in the event of a problem however please note that the display boards do not keep up with changes on the computer so an odd display on there does not always mean there is a problem with your time, just check on live timing once back in the paddock and listen out for any paddock announcements.

On Track Signals

When you are out on track you may see red and/or yellow flags or lights if you see either then you should immediately abandon your un and slow down being prepared to stop at any point as there is an incident on track so your path may be blocked and/or there could be marshals/emergency vehicles on track, be aware emergency vehicles can come from any direction. Both the red and yellow signals have the same meaning on sprint but a red signal would usually indicate the incident is more serious. If you see either of these signals (and you are not the cause!) then your run has been compromised so you should re-join the queue for a rerun.

Incidents on Track

If you suspect at any point that you are dropping fluids then pull over onto the grass and signal a marshal do not continue on track. If you have an incident where you leave track the please continue at speed for the rest of the course (providing it is safe to do so) so as not to impede the vehicles behind you. You will be able to pull off track using the normal circuit exit on the 2nd layout should you encounter a problem. If you do have an accident whilst on track and cannot continue then get out of the vehicle and get behind a solid barrier until marshals are with you. If you have a fire then get clear of the vehicle straight away, marshals will likely be on the scene before you can put it out yourself so get to safety first.
